Carol Ann Squires


Carol Ann Squires, 73, of Norwich, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Valley View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born on January 27, 1943, in Madison, Wisconsin, Carol was the daughter of E.A. and Alene (Peckham) Smith. Upon graduating from high school, Carol attended Delhi College and received an associate’s degree in food science and nutrition and entered the food service industry in Miami, Florida. She moved back to New York and began her long career with the Chenango Memorial Hospital as the food services manager. She retired from the food service industry after several years as the food services manager at Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Carol volunteered her time at various locations in Norwich, including the American Cancer Society. Carol enjoyed participating in the bowling leagues, camping at Fish Creek and Bowman Lake, and attending the music concerts at East Park in Norwich.
Carol married Robert C. Squires on July 1, 1972, in Delhi, NY. Robert passed away suddenly on November 29, 2006.
Carol is survived by son Shaun Perez and his wife, Sarah, of San Antonio, TX, and their son, Sam; son Kevin Perez, of San Antonio, TX, and his son, Dallas, and daughter, Alexis; and son Jason Squires, of Norwich. She is also survived by her brother, John, and his wife, Jean, of Virginia Beach, VA, and nieces, Colleen and Robin. Other survivors who reside in Atlanta, GA, include her sister-in-law, Myriam Smith, her niece, Ericka McGarity, and her nephew, Michael A. Smith.
A memorial service for Carol will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the Wilson Funeral Home, where Rev. Nancy Hale, pastor, Broad Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will immediate follow at North Norwich Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
