Martin J. DeLaney Sr., 79, of Greene passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Delaney; parents, James and Mary Delaney. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marion “Bunny” DeLaney; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa (DeLaney) and John Thornton; son and daughter-in-law, Martin J. and Rebecca Delaney Jr; three grandchildren, Grayson, Neah and Dominick; siblings, Mary and Roger Wilcox, Catherine McDonald, James Delaney; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Douglas and Paula Currier, Helen and Ron Parini, Sheryl and Mike Evans and many nieces and nephews. Martin served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. He worked at Raymond Corporation in Greene for 18 years. He then became a self-employed business man and retired from Coastal Oil in Vestal as Terminal Manager. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends of the family may call Sunday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street Greene, New York 13778. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Greene and burial with military honors will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.
