Thomas W. Lawrence


Thomas W. Lawrence, 63, a lifelong resident of Norwich passed away Monday evening, October 17, 2016, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Tom was born in Norwich on March 27, 1953 the son of Douglas & Beatrice (Charles) Lawrence. He grew up in Norwich and was a 1972 graduate of the Norwich High School. During his high school years he had played football, basketball and was on the track team. Needless to say, Tom enjoyed all sports. He also had a love for his hunting all of his life. Tom was employed by Victory Markets as a store manager for 32 years. He also had worked for Rite-Aid and most recently at the CIT.
Tom was an easy going sort of guy and if a problem came up he “just dealt with it.” He had nothing negative to say about anyone and lived his entire life this way. Tom had been involved with the Northeast Classic Car Museum helping with Casino Night, was a member of Norwich Elks Lodge 1222 and enjoyed his bowling.
On June 30, 1973 in Norwich he married Linda Marriott.
Tom is survived by his wife Linda of Norwich, his children Jason Lawrence and wife Lesley of Norwich, Heidi Pecorello and husband Rick of Sherrill, Becky Whaley and husband Michael of TN, his siblings Connie Pounds of So. New Berlin, Sherry Bennett and husband Frank of Preston, Douglas (Butch) Lawrence, Jr. and wife Faye of Johnstown. Also surviving are his grandchildren Andrew & Madison Lawrence , Nicholas & Anthony Pecorello and Lindsay Whaley. Several nieces & nephews also survive.
Tom was predeceased by his sisters Betty Lou Neimier and Beverly Anderson.
A funeral service for Tom will be held on Wednesday, October 26, at 7 pm from the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm.
