Jean Manzer


OXFORD – Jean O. Manzer, 94, of Palatine Bridge, formerly of Oxford passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 3009 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, St. Johnsville.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1915 in Norwich a daughter of Fred and Florence (Beadle) Onyan. On Dec. 26, 1937 in Norwich she married Oliver Manzer, who passed away on Dec. 20, 1986.
She is survived by her children, David and Lucy Manzer of Norwich, Cynthia Northrup of Gloversville, and John and Shirley Manzer of Palatine Bridge; her grandchildren, Jessica Rey-De-Castro of Cranbury, N.J., Aaron Manzer of Oneonta, Nancy Gingerich of Palatine Bridge, Valarie Wright of Norwich, and Laurie Reiss of Raleigh, N.C.; and her great grandchildren, Morgan Wright, Zachary Wright, Daniel Gingerich, Lindsey Gingerich, Alexis Dunham, Joseph Dunham, Elsie Rey-De-Castro, Stephanie Reiss, Tyler Reiss, and Emily Meador.
Jean graduated from Norwich High School in 1932 and from CCBI in Syracuse in 1934. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Oxford, where she sang in the choir and played the organ, and was a member to the ECW. She was also a member of Church of the Good Shepherd in Canajoharie, where she played the piano. She served for many years as an election teller in Oxford.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Oxford with the Rev. Ralph Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
The family will receive friends at the Parish Hall following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Oxford.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
