Seth Lewis Ward


Seth Lewis Ward, 77, of Norwich, passed away peacefully with his daughter and son-in-law at his side after a long battle with health issues on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the Binghamton General Hospital.
Seth was born in Purdy’s, NY on February 15, 1939 the son of Lester A. & Eva (Wixom) Ward. He was a resident of the area all of his life and was employed by the Charles J. Husted Milk Haulers of Mt. Upton for over 30 years until health issues forced him to retire in 2010. Seth truly loved the sport of hunting and spent as much time as he could in the woods. He taught his sons and daughters to hunt, respect the sport and enjoy nature. Following in the line of hunting he was also a skilled taxidermist. Seth also loved a good game of golf.
Seth is survived by his children; Lester Ward and wife Scarlet of Whiting, NJ, Richard Ward and wife Christa of Sherburne, Ivory Henderson and husband Michael of Norwich, Donna Purdy of Sherburne, step-dad Milton Searles of Brewster, sister Geraldine Corley and her daughters Carolyn (Anthony) Arpaia and Heidi (Rick) Barto. Also surviving are his grandchildren Lester Ward III, Bailey Ward, Tyler Ward, Tori (Thomas) Coles, Jamie Ward, Amber (Rashaas) Roberts, Hunter Ward, Britnie Hartwell and fiancée John Wood, Taylor Hartwell, Jada Gonzalez, Isaiah Gonzalez, Bridgette Purdy and fiancee Ben Carmon and Stephanie (Andrew) Tarbell and his great grandchildren Kohen, Trent, Tristan, Skyler and Lux. Seth is also survived by the mother of his children Mary Edholm. Also surviving are nieces and nephew Stacey Smith, Darcey Barrows, Barbara Hughes, Wendy Marshall and Rodney Ward Jr.
Seth was predeceased by his parents, son William Ward, sister Fra Ward, brother Rodney Ward, brother-in-law James Corley and his first wife Teresa Comedo.
A service for Seth will be held on Saturday, October 22, at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. David Spiegel, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Norwich will officiate. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mt. Upton.
Friends may call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 11-1 pm.
