NORWICH – Donald E. Benington, 88, of 14 Elm Street, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born March 4, 1921 in New Lisbon, Don was the son of Sumner K. and Esther (Johnson) Benington. He had worked at the former Norwich Shoe Company and was a veteran of World War II.
On Aug. 12, 1947, in Covington, Kentucky, Don married Thelma O. Jones Benington. She died on May 16, 1995.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hale, pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
