Jerry L. Aley, Sr.


EARLVILLE – Jerry L. Aley, Sr., 71, of Thompson Hill Rd., passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at his home.
He was born February 2, 1945 in Rome, NY, a son of Scott and Helena Widrick Aley and received his education in Rome schools. On January 29, 1966, Jerry married Donna K. Fields in Rome. Jerry worked at Oneida Ltd. in Sherrill for over 35 years until retiring. He loved going to car shows where his ’57 Chevy won many trophies. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Earlville.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; his children, Jerry, Jr. and Tracy Aley of Earlville; Laura Aley and Dave Lawson of Sherburne; Holly and Phillip Tucker, who was his best friend and special son-in-law, of Earlville; grandchildren, Kara Stroman, Jessica (Derek) Acker, Timothy (Hannah) Collins, Brandan Collins (Kate Guy), Thomas Cronk (Kelsey Dean), Courtney “Sassy” Cronk (Nick Shalayda); great-grandchildren, Abbiegale, Wyatt, Weston, Adelaide, Reagan, Aubrey, and Jameson; his beloved canine companion, Cinnamon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Caroll and Donna Joy; and brothers, Alan, Keith, and Harry “Gene” Aley.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, September 22, 2016 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in West Hill Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11am to 2pm prior to the service.
Jerry’s family wishes to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Hospice of Chenango County for their care of Jerry, especially for being there whenever they were called regardless of the hour, as well as the wonderful support they gave his family
