Lorraine M. Doeberl

Heaven gained a VIP member this morning. It’s time to rest now, Grandma. Your life was one of true kindness and unconditional love.
Lorraine M. Doeberl, 78, of Norwich, passed away peacefully after a brief, unexpected illness on Friday, September 16, 2016 at her daughter’s South Plymouth home with family by her side.
Born April 20, 1938, in Hamilton, NY, Lorraine was the daughter of Leslie and Louise (Clark) Stickles.
For many years, Lorraine worked at Opportunities for Chenango and at NBT Bank’s Proof Department in Norwich. After retiring from OFC and NBT, and not one to be idle, Lorraine went on to obtain certifications that allowed her to pursue a third career at Chenango County ARC-CWS. The CWS residents often thought of Lorraine as their “house mother,” as she helped them with culinary, banking, and other life skills. She adored those whom she served there.
Lorraine was also a lifelong, active member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church. For many years she volunteered her services organizing the “donations closet” at the Church, as well as helping to prepare for their annual rummage sales.
Surviving Lorraine are her son Terrence (“Terry”) Doeberl and his wife, Gail, of New Hampsire, daughter Pamela Olsen and her husband, John, of Florida, son Mark Doeberl and his wife, Michele, of Earlville, daughter Virginia Kratzer and her companion, Jerry Kreiner, of South Plymouth, and son Brian Doeberl, of Norwich. She is also survived by many grandchildren and their families, Kristin Doeberl, Stacey and Matthew Hemstrought, Christopher and Sara Olsen, Michael Doeberl, Justin Hodge, Leah Prewitt; four great-grandchildren, as well as two more expected in January 2017; and sister Luella Enslow. Lorraine was predeceased by daughter Sheryl Fields, and sisters Lois and Laura.
To honor Lorraine’s wishes, there will be no funeral services or calling hours. A private family memorial service will be held in the spring of 2017.
Contributions in memory of Lorraine may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY 13815, or to the Broad Street Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 74 North Broad Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilson Funeral Home. To leave the family a message of condolence, please visit the funeral home website at: www.wilonfh.com.
