SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Gerald H. Johnson, 81, formerly of South New Berlin, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at the Oneida Extended Healthcare Facility, where he had been a resident for the past six years.
He was born in Gilbertsville on April 8 1928, the son of Howard Bion Johnson and Edna Marjorie (Macumber) Johnson. He served his country in the United States Army. He was predeceased by his long time companion, Jean Johnson. He was employed at Unisom of Norwich as a plater. Gerald enjoyed tinkering with things and animals and animal life.
He is survived by his daughter Jerri Finch and husband George Jr. of Norwich; a granddaughter Misty Newman and husband Scott of Norwich; a grandson George Finch III of Norwich. He was blessed with four great grandchildren, Kylie Cox, Taylor Finch, Alex Newman and Skylr Newman.
Calling hours will be held at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris on Sunday evening from7 to 9 p.m. and funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Hillington Cemetery in Morris.
