Deana J. Meade


Deana J. Meade, 81, a lifelong resident of Holmesville passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of Norwich.
Deana was born on April 2, 1935 in Cortland the daughter of Dean & Mildred (Young) Curtis. She attended the South New Berlin School from which she graduated. A resident of Holmesville for most of her life, Deana and her husband owned and operated the Holmesville General Store for many years.
It goes without saying that Deana served others. She had a heart of giving, was selfless and made sure her family was cared for. She was a lifelong and active member of the Holmesville Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher and was active in the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. In addition to being active in her church, Deana made frequent visits to the sick and nursing homes, drove others to appointments and shopping.
In short, Deana loved Jesus and wants everyone to know that’s all that matters is – Jesus.
Deana is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard of Holmesville, her son Dean Meade and wife Carol of New Berlin, BethAnn Meade and fiancé Joe Tomanek of Holmesville and Steven Meade and companion Terry Clark of Norwich, her sister Rita Petrocci and husband Louis of FL along with 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Deana was predeceased by her son Richard (Dicky) Meade.
A graveside service for Deana will be held on Friday, September 16, at 1 p.m. from the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin. The Rev. Larry Maxson, Interim Minister for the Holmesville Baptist Church will officiate. Everyone is welcome to attend.
There will be no calling hours.
