Esther V. Drogan, 94, of Norwich, passed away Saturday morning, August 27, 2016, at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Esther was born in Norwich on November 3, 1921 the daughter of Harold & Alice (Sharpe) Joy Sr. She spent most of her life in Norwich and attended the Norwich Schools. In her early working career, Esther had worked for Victory Markets as well as Sheffield Products but mostly was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Esther will best be remembered for her great sense of humor.
Esther is survived by her daughters Marguerite Fleming of Oxford and Wendi Heaton of Clifton Park, her sister Irene Leake of Rome along with 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews along with her lifelong friend Elsie Congdon of Norwich.
Esther was predeceased by her husbands Edward Meltsner and Robert Drogan, her sister Eleanor Houghtaling and brothers Harold Joy Jr. and William Joy.
In honoring Esther’s wishes there will be no calling hours and services will be private. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
