Rosemarie J. Fisher


Rosemarie J. Fisher, 77, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital. Her family was at her side.
Born September 2, 1938, in Norwich, Rosemarie was the daughter of Stefano and Mary (Assunta) Bernardi. She graduated from Norwich High School. On April 12, 1958, in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Rosemarie married William (“Bill”) Fisher who at that time was serving with the U.S. Navy. Rosemarie flew to southern California as Bill was travelling around Cape Horn to meet her. When Bill was discharged, they lived in southern California for six years before returning to the Norwich area. Rosemarie then remained at home raising their son, Andrew. When Andrew entered the navy, Rosemarie began working at the NYS Veteran’s Home, in Oxford, where she remained for eighteen years. She retired in 1999.
Rosemarie loved to cook, especially Italian and Mexican dishes. She attended St. Bartholomew’s Church.
In addition to her husband, Bill, Rosemarie is survived by her son, Andrew Fisher, of Natural Bridge, NY; grandsons Brice Fisher, of Natural Bridge, NY, and Ryan Fisher, of Michigan; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brice, Marie, Gavin, and Alayna. She is also survived by siblings Anna Turner, of Norwich, Antoinette Natoli, of Sherburne, and Steve Bernardi and his wife, Leslie, of Norwich. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Rosemarie was predeceased by her sister, Camilla Leggiero.
A Funeral Mass for Rosemarie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016, at St. Bartholomew’s Church, where Rev. Ralph Bove, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Rosemarie may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
