Mildred R. Cox

Mildred R. Cox, 66, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Millie was born on July 5, 1950 in Little Falls, NY and was a life-long resident of Chenango County. She was a CNA at Valley View Manor, a home health aide in Norwich, as well as a cook at the Chenango Valley Home. Most of all, she was a homemaker and an amazing mother to five beautiful girls. Millie also unconditionally loved her twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren, constantly finding time to support and care for every single one.
Millie is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Paul W. Cox. Millie and Paul met at the Norwich Shoe Factory in 1967 and she agreed to marry him on their first date. They were married on April Fool’s Day, no joke. She is also survived by her loving dogs, Mackenzie (Pre-deceased) Sadie, Cody, and Diego, as well as her friendly cat, Midnight.
Predeceased by her mother and father, Yvonne & Chauncey Ferguson. Millie was from a large family consisting of 7 siblings.
Millie had five loving daughters that cared for her beyond words can begin to describe:
Theresa (Daniel) Decker, Greenville, SC; Pamela Mealey, Norwich; Paula (Jamie) Crawford, Oxford; Rae Anne (Frank) Pisa, Cicero; Jennifer Cox (Dennis Doyle), Norwich; grandchildren: Jessica (Eric) Detandt. Margaret Darragh, Specialist Mathew Crawford, Michael (Jacelyn) Decker, Lance Corporal Alyshia Crawford, Elizabeth (Hector) Bedoya, Robbie Antonowicz, Joshua Decker, Nicole Mealey, Cameron Pisa, Devin Pisa, Vinny Pisa, Logan Yaddow, Brennan Paul Cox; great-grandchildren, Nikia Ruling (Crawford), KC Darragh, Joseph Detandt, Bentley Calvert (Crawford) Caleb Detandt and one great-grandchild on the way: Roman Decker. She was predeceased by one great-grandchild.
Millie was best known for her huge personality and contagious smile, as well as her extreme love for cooking, lifetime movies, and bingo. She constantly surprised her family with the treasures she managed to bring home, never knowing where she quite got them from. (wink wink) Most of all she loved to throw bonfires, light off fire crackers, have sleepovers with her daughters, and spend her time with loving family.
Funeral Service will be at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main Street, Sherburne, NY 13460 on Saturday August 13, 2016 at 1:00pm.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Saturday from Noon to 1pm prior to the service.
Millie was a large supporter of the American Cancer Society and her family requests that donations in her memory be made to them in lieu of flowers. www.cancer.org
