Richard E. Posson


Richard E. “Dick” Posson went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica, NY.
Dick was born on January 19, 1932 in Central Bridge, NY, to the late Foster and Esther Chaffee Posson. On January 18, 1957 Dick married his loving wife, of 59 years, Yvonne “Bonnie” Posson who survives.
Dick also leaves behind a daughter Kara Lynn Posson Reed and husband Todd of North Norwich; four sons; Richard Foster Posson and wife Melonie of Wichita Kansas; Michael H. Posson of Smyrna; Thomas W. Posson of Smyrna; David C. Posson and wife Lisa of North Norwich. He loved and enjoyed seven grandchildren – Amanda, Michael R., John E., Joshua, Emily, Noah and Elisabeth. Dick had three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is one sister Ruth Wagstaff and husband Arnie of Owego, and a brother Wayne of Florida.
Dick enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged in December 1956. Dick then moved to Melbourne, Fla in 1957, where he was a film processing technician for RCA at the Air Force Missile Test Center at Cape Canaveral. Dick’s passion was farming. Dick and Bonnie purchased a dairy farm in 1962 in North Norwich which continues to operate today. In 1970, Dick founded Posson Realty specializing in the sale of farms and land throughout central NY. Dick enjoyed traveling and spending the last several winters in Florida with his wife Bonnie. Dick was a follower of Billy Graham Ministries and enjoyed The Sun Life Broadcasting Programs. He was also a member of the Canasawacta Free Methodist Church.
Dick’s family and friends say many thanks to Norwich Rescue Squad, Faxton/St. Lukes nurses, doctors and staff, as well as to Light House Community Church clergy.
A private graveside service will be held at the North Norwich Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
