Patricia H. Whitaker


Patricia H. Whitaker, 71, a lifelong resident of Greene, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2016. She was predeceased by parents, Wilson and Claudine Harrison. Pat is survived by sister, Lorraine Harrison, Norwich; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and John Harrington, Greene; son and daughter-in-law, William and Margaret Whitaker, Greene; six grandchildren, Jenna, Joshua and Jordan Harrington; Eliza, Ashley and Brandon Whitaker; many cousins and special friends. Pat graduated from Greene Central School Class of 1963 and received a nursing certificate from SUNY Morrisville. She retired from Lourdes Hospital after 36 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Zion Episcopal Church, Greene. Pat loved spending her time attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, and their friends sporting events and school activities. She enjoyed traveling with her family and was an avid knitter. Pat had many special friends that she cared for deeply and cherished spending time with. Whether it was working as a nurse, supporting her friends during good and bad times or caring for family, Pat’s calling in life was helping others. She loved her family and was affectionately known as “Grandma Pat” to many. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Episcopal Church, Greene. Reverend David Hanselman officiate. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene. Friends of the family may call Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
