Barbara Guy

NEW BERLIN – Barbara J. (Hill) Guy, 58, of New Berlin, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, Oct. 1, 2006 at her home.
Born in New Berlin on Nov. 14, 1947, Barbara was the daughter of Harold and Wanda (Fowlston) Hill. She attended Norwich High School, earning a letter for Varsity Basketball, and graduated with the Class of 1965. During her working years, Barbara’s love of people led her to employment as a nurse’s aide at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin, where she has worked for 15 years, working last in the housekeeping dept. Concurrently, she was employed as a cashier at WalMart, where again she was able to meet and interact with people during her work day. A bubbly person who was never without a smile on her face, Barbara loved to laugh. She always put her family first and was very dedicated to their happiness, and would always stick up for the underdog. She was truly loved by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her parents, Harold and Wanda Hill; by her children: Mark D. Forrest of Norwich, Dorinda (Rindy) Cummings and husband Andrew of Norwich, and Jeffrey S. Guy of Orlando, Fla.; and by her brothers and sisters: Betty Ann Hill of Binghamton, Michael J. Hill of Newburgh, Suzanne Mirabito of Montana, Jamie L. Hill of New Haven, Conn., and Robert W. Hill and wife Vicki of Norwich. She is also survived by grandchildren Landon and Tanner Cummings, and by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Beverly Butler, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin, will officiate. Following the service, Barbara will join her brother, Harold “Skippy” Hill who predeceased her in 1960, in the Grandview Cemetery of Whitesboro.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 7-9 p.m.
Those wishing to remember Barbara with a memorial contribution are asked to send it to the Chase Memorial Nursing Home, P. 0. Box 250,1 Terrace Heights, New Berlin, NY 13411, with checks made payable to Chase Memorial Nursing Home, and “Sunshine Fund” in the note area.
