Carl L. Cowles, formerly of Greene, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2016. Carl was born on May 2, 1938 to Watson and Ruth Cowles. He was educated in, and graduated from Oxford School District. After graduation, he made his living in many different occupations, including milk truck driver in Guilford, NY, owning and operating a service station in Oxford, working for GLA in Norwich, Evergreen Sprinkler Systems in Sarasota, Florida, he was also a retail manager for a department store in Georgia, and eventually spent 20 years as an inspector at Raymond Corporation in Greene until his retirement. Carl was married for 51 years to Patricia Cowles who predeceased him. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Michael and Carla Cowles; his former daughter in law, Christine Cowles; his grandchildren, Samantha Mills, and David Cowles; his great grandchild, Beau Mills; his step grandchildren, Chassidy Bettger, and Renee Calixto; and his step great-grandchildren, Nathanial, Josh, Hannah, and Ashlyn. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 24, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
