Robert W. “rob” Chapin


EARLVILLE – Robert W. “Rob” Chapin, 59, of Campbell Rd., passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
He was born February 4, 1957 in Hamilton, a son of Floyd Chapin and Ruth E. Brown. He was a graduate of Otselic Valley High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from LeMoyne College in Syracuse. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On December 13, 1980, Rob married RoBerta Garrett in Lebanon, NY. Rob was a Corrections Officer who worked at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, Camp Pharsalia, the Mohawk Correctional Facility and was most recently a Captain at the Cayuga Correctional Facility in Moravia. He was passionate about bulldozers, home renovation and his basset hound, Bella. He enjoyed restoring things, especially tractors, gas engines and furniture.
Surviving are his wife, RoBerta; his parents, Floyd Chapin of Georgetown and Ruth E. Brown of Ocala, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Emily Chapin of Castleton, NY; a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and John DeRuscio of Glenville, NY; two brothers, Floyd and Steve Chapin, both of Ocala, FL; a grandson, Luke Patrick Chapin of Castleton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves behind his honorary mother Sheila Predmore. He was predeceased by his honorary father Gene "Pops" Predmore; his grandparents, William and Frieda Bastian, Leon and Ruth C. Chapin; a sister-in-law, Deborah Chapin and his honorary brother Gene "Curly" Predmore.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
Interment is private at the convenience of his family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11am until 2pm prior to the service
