Dorothy Kellogg


NORTH NORWICH – Dorothy A. Kellogg, 85, of West Cayuga St., passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Easton, Pa., a daughter of the late Erwin and Pearl Cook Adams and was a graduate of Sherburne High School in 1942. On Oct. 3, 1942, Dorothy married L. Truman Kellogg in Georgetown. He predeceased her on May 22, 1996. Mrs. Kellogg was a resident of North Norwich most of her life. She worked at Sherburne Central School for 22 years until her retirement. Following that, she provided quality home health care for several area residents. She had also worked at Scintilla in Sidney at one time. Dorothy was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother whose family was her greatest joy. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and flower gardening.
Mrs. Kellogg was a member of the North Norwich United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the North Norwich Fire Department Auxiliary and the O.E.S. of Norwich.
Surviving are her children, Larry and Patricia Kellogg of Sherburne; Richard and Patricia Kellogg of North Norwich; Sharon and Thomas Frank of Norwich; Deborah Phelan of Earlville; Phyllis and Richard Braun of Norwich; a sister, Marion Adams Kellogg of Homer; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial in the North Norwich Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 p.m.
