Laura Jean Carhart Downey, 84, of Oxford, a beautiful person and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother passed away on May 27, 2016 at Chenango Memorial Hospital/RHCF in Norwich.
Laura was born on May 30, 1931, the eldest child of Earl and Ora Carhart. Along with her parents, Laura is predeceased by her first husband, Murray E. Roach; her two sisters, Eleanor and Doris; and her three brothers, Robert, Thomas and Everett.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Downey; her children, Roxanna and Terry Harvey, Colleen Roach, George and Susan Roach, Murray and Julie Roach, William and Tina Roach, Regan and Colleen Roach, and Barrett and Leah Roach; her stepchildren, Mike Downey, Sherry Downey, and Colleen MacLaury; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her brother, John Carhart.
A graveside service for Laura will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June, 1st, 2016, at Union Cemetery, County Rt. 5, McDonough.
