SUSAN FAIRCHILD ECCLESTON
Susan Fairchild Eccleston, 59, of Selkirk, NY, and formerly of McDonough, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at her childhood home in McDonough, while surrounded by her family with her two sons by her side.
Sue was born in New Berlin, NY, on August 1, 1956, the daughter of Richard and Ruth Maine Fairchild. She carried a selfless-heart devoted to the service and care of others. Sue was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Ravena, NY, and a member of the Ravena Grange. Prior to moving to Selkirk, she had been employed with the Chenango County Department of Social Services for 24 years before accepting a position with the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, where she worked for ten years, until her retirement.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew (April) Stratton, of Bourbonnais, IL and Derek Stratton of New York, NY; her step-children, Bret (Patricia Kelsey) Eccleston of Cincinnatus, Robin (Andrew) Clark of Cincinnatus, and Bridget Beluskov of Taylor, SC. She also leaves behind her father, Richard Fairchild of McDonough; brothers, Robert (Jo) Fairchild of McDonough and James (Tierney) Fairchild of NC; a sister, Linda (Charles) Mead of NC; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Llewellyn “Wally” Eccleston, on March 14, 2016, and her mother, Ruth Fairchild, in 2015.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Sunday, May 15, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday, May 16, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 p.m. with her pastor, Reverend David E. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Sue may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
