Richard G. Scheriff, Sr.


GILBERTSVILLE – Richard G. Scheriff, Sr., 56, of Gilbertsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May 8, 2016 in Norwich.
He was born January 25, 1960, son of Louis and Theresa (Modesto) Scheriff in Queens.
Richie was a true outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and shoot. He was a cowboy at heart and would dress the part when given the chance.
He was a member of SASS, (single action shooting society), his alias was (Scheriff Richie). He owned and operated The Scheriff Gun Shop with his wife from his farm in Gilbertsville and was also member of the F&AM Masonic Lodge #801 in Sidney.
Richie is survived by his wife – Kathleen Scheriff, Gilbertsville; Son – Richard Scheriff, Jr. and his fiancée, Chelsea Phelps, Bainbridge; 2 Daughters – Nicole Scheriff and her fiancée, Jeff West, Cortland; Brittany Scheriff and her fiancée, Charles Larson III, Sidney; Grandchildren – Jaiden and Arianna Larson; His Mother, Theresa Scheriff, Gilbertsville; 2 Brothers – Robert and Patty Scheriff, FL and Ronald Scheriff, NJ; And nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was predeceased by his Father, Louis Scheriff.
Friends may call Friday, May 13, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney And, Saturday, from 1-3 p.m.
Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral chapel.
