OXFORD – Wayne T. Knapp, 56 years old, of Oxford and formerly of Pleasant Valley, died from complications of cancer on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at Sloan Memorial Hospital in New York City.
He was born March 28, 1953 in Poughkeepsie, and was the son of Marilyn (Judy) Knapp and the late Fred Knapp. A graduate of Arlington High School, where he excelled on the wrestling team, he was employed as an engineer. He is a former member of the Chenango County Board of Supervisors.
A loving and devoted family man, he is survived by his wife Lorraine Quarm Knapp and his son Seth Thomas Knapp and daughter-in-law, Leslie and granddaughter Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his beautiful and wonderful daughter Dana Elizabeth. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Glenn, Karl and Fred.
Wayne loved Thanksgiving, to work “around the house,” to garden and the Adirondack Mountains, but most of all he loved his family. Our world will be a lesser place without Wayne and we will all miss his wit, insights and caring ways, but most of all we will just miss him.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St., Norwich.
