Helen F. Lopiccolo


Helen F. LoPiccolo, 92, formerly of Birdsall Street, in Norwich, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2016 in the Residential Health Care Facility at Chenango Memorial Hospital. Her family was at her side.
Born February 24, 1924, in Elizabeth, NJ, Helen was the daughter of Richard and Florence (Hoffman) Ogden. She graduated from high school in Elizabeth and worked there in the Simmons Mattress Company before her marriage. She and her husband, Dominic, and son, Jim, moved to Norwich by train in May 1948 where they raised their six children.
Helen was an accomplished seamstress, and sewed and crocheted many items for her family. Her greatest loves, however, were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, some of whom graduated from “Gramma School”, complete with diplomas.
Helen was also a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church.
On May 5, 1946, in Elizabeth, NJ, Helen married Dominic V. LoPiccolo, who died on October 3, 1995. She is survived by her children and their spouses, James and Barbara LoPiccolo, of Norwich, John and Janice LoPiccolo, of Coral Spings, FL, Thomas and Samantha LoPiccolo, of Norwich, Donna and Thomas Manley, of Norwich, Linda Young, of Clayton, NC, and Teresa and Jeff Crooke, of Liverpool, NY; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by two brothers, George and Richard Ogden.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Bartholomew’s Church where Rev. Ralph Bove, pastor, will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. There be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the St. Bartholomew’s Church Capital Campaign Fund, 83 East Main Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
