Thomas M. “tom” Kerwin


SHERBURNE – Thomas M. “Tom” Kerwin, 64, of Kendricks Rd., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 11, 2016.
He was born November 27, 1951 in Ilion, NY, the son of James and Louise Marriott Kerwin. On July 14, 1995, he married Roberta Knapp in North Norwich. Tom was a mason and carpenter who worked at SUNY, Oneonta until retiring in 2014. He had previously worked for Talbot Contracting, Chicago Pneumatic, the Hull Corp. and other area firms. He loved being in the “Church of the Great Outdoors” with his canine companions. He enjoyed coyote and big game hunting, fishing and ice fishing. His favorite music was country, country gospel and older rock and roll. Tom enjoyed having a “toddy” before retiring at night and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta; his mother, Louise Kerwin of Unadilla Forks; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tammy Kerwin of Burlington Flats; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Tom Lucas of New Berlin; step-children, Chet (Carrie) Dennison of N. Norwich; Stephen (Jen) Dennison of Rome; Coral (Matt) Kane of N. Norwich; and Bruice Jeffrey of Sherburne; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Woodrow Teachout of Richfield Springs; and his eight grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 6pm Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment is private.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-6pm prior to the service.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Sherburne Emergency Squad or the Sherburne Fire Department.
