Barry Sutton



NORWICH – Barry L. Sutton, 57, life-long Norwich resident, passed away Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2009 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Norwich in June of 1952, Barry was the son of Kenneth and Lillian Doane Sutton. He grew up in the Norwich area and attended the Norwich schools. Starting work at the early age of 16, Barry had worked for the Norwich Shoe Co., the Roofer’s Union of Syracuse and Binghamton and had owned and operated his own roofing business known as Iron Roofing. For the past 15 years he had been employed by Pharsalia Forest Products of North Pharsalia.
A dedicated family man, he was always relaxed and mellow. Barry was known to be a hard worker and would give you the shirt off his back and at times could be a bit stubborn and was very independent. He was an associate member of the American Legion Post #182 and VFW Post #2782.
Barry is survived by his long-time companion Sunday Brown of Norwich; his children: Isaiah Sutton and his wife Nicole of Norwich, Ursula Sutton of Binghamton and Ian Sutton of Norwich; his sister Nancy Humphrey and husband Jack of Norwich; his brothers Emmett Sutton and wife Robbie of Columbus, Lyndon Sutton and companion Cindy of North Norwich and Mark Sutton and his wife Linda of Ellsworth, Maine. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Memorial services for Barry will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. James Moore, pastor of the North Pharsalia Bible Church, will officiate.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
