ALBERT G. IVES
Albert G. Ives, 79 of Guilford passed away on February 5, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on August 24, 1936 in Guilford a son of the late Paris and Alta (Wade) Ives. On June 17, 1961 in Guilford he married Judith Casey, who survives.
Besides his wife, Judy, he is survived by his children, Gail and James Wentworth of Liverpool, NY, Andrew and Wendy Ives, of Newfield, NY and Alex and Brandy Ives of Clarksville, VA; his grandchildren, James, Daniel and Amanda Wentworth of Liverpool, NY, Brandon and Nolan Ives of North Carolina and Gatlin Ives of Unadilla; his sisters, Joyce Starr-Cain of Bainbridge, Betty June (Al) Slawson of Tucson, AZ, and Martha (Rick) Lavis of Phoenix, AZ. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur Ives and sister, Arlene Jenks.
Albert graduated from Guilford Central School in 1954 and Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry. Albert was a partner in Greenview Farms since 1958, that was recognized aa a Century Farm in 1977. He was a long time member of the Guilford Center Presbyterian Church and currently a member of the East Guilford Presbyterian Church. He served as a Councilman for the Town of Guilford for over 20 years. He was a long time member of the Chenango County Agricultural Society (Fair Board) and served as President for several years. He was a member of the National Holstein Association, the New York State Holstein Association, where he received a 60-year award and the Chenango County Holstein Association. He was a member of the Chenango County Farm Bureau and a life member of the New York State Agricultural Society. He also served on committees for Dairylea and Agway.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the East Guilford Presbyterian Church with Rev. Patty Wolff officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Ives Settlement Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY on Tuesday, February 9 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
