MARGARET A. FOSTER
SMYRNA – Margaret A. Foster, 80, of County Rd. 21, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
She was born October 15, 1935 in Norwich, a daughter of Frank and Blanche Horton Beesmer and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On March 13, 1954, Margaret married Charles L. Foster in Sherburne, He predeceased her on December 28, 1988. Margaret worked in the accounting department at Victory Markets, Inc., in Norwich for 40 years until retiring.
Margaret was an active and dedicated member of the Columbus Community Church where she was a trustee of the Altar Guild and the Mission Fund, VP of Good Neighbors, and the chairperson for the church’s annual Harvest Dinner. She was also a member of the Home Bureau and the Quilting Club; a former Girl Scout and 4-H leader; and a former treasurer of TOPS.
Surviving are her children, Wayne Foster and his companion, Tracey Ettrich of Hamilton; Anita (Foster) and Ron Range of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Maren Ettrich of Hamilton, Miranda and Jeff Synakowski of Wilmington, NC, Gianna Range and Jordan Range, both of Charlotte, NC,; Jeremy and Melissa Foster of South Otselic; great-grandchildren, Gage, Logan and Zack Foster of South Otselic; Brittany, Brett, Joshua and Alexandria Synakowski of Wilmington, NC; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Gerald Siefert of Norwich, Charles Seifert of Sherburne, Thomas Seifert of Hamilton, as well as many close friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Foster Church; a sister, Ruth Beesmer; two brothers, John and Robert Beesmer; Sandy Seifert and Jennifer Seifert.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm Thursday, February 11, 2016 from the Columbus Community Church, followed by interment in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm.
