Mark D. Marvin

MARK MARVIN
Mark D. Marvin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 40 years old.
Born March 21, 1975, in Hamilton, NY, Mark was the son of Douglas R. and Dolly (Carpenter) Marvin, each of whom survive. Mark was a 1993 graduate of Norwich High School, then attended Nazareth College. He worked in the telecommunications field, first with ProTel and, more recently, as a project manager for Pivotel, both located in Norwich. Prior to his work at ProTel, he worked at CIT, Sprint, and Comforce.
On October 4, 2008, in Norwich, Mark married his beloved wife, Alisa (Smith) Marvin, who survives.
Mark enjoyed playing World of Warcraft online with his family and friends. He loved his job in telecommunications because he was always learning something new. He found great fun in flying, and loved the feeling of being in the sky and seeing everything going on below him. You could always find Mark in a crowd because he always wore some sort of Miami Dolphins clothing. He also loved the dolphin animal. Mark loved the sport of football and enjoyed talking with anyone about the sport, most of all with his nephew, Noah. Noah, whose favorite team is the Patriots, loved to tease Mark when comparing the two teams.
Mark was also fond of attending his boys’ athletic and artistic activities, including cross country, track and field, football, wrestling, musicals, and school concerts. Also, when he was home you could always find him reclining on the couch watching movies with his family, and with one or two of the family’s cats lying on him. Mark also took pleasure in spending time with his mother and father, especially their annual “Black Friday” trips to Binghamton to shop for Christmas gifts.
Mark was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and brother. In addition to his wife and parents, Mark is survived by his sons Alec, of Rochester, and Dusten and Cameron, each of Norwich. Sister Gina Harrington and her companion, John Kelley, of Baldwinsville, and brother Luke Marvin and his wife, Amy, of Norwich, also survive, as well as nieces and nephews Meagan, Ashley, Noah, Kylie, Joey, and Levi. Mark is also survived by his in-laws, Terry and Wendy Hackett, of Guilford, and Anne Smith and Ray Gray, of Norwich, as well as Alisa’s nephews, Ethan and Elias, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mark will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016, at the Wilson Funeral Home, where Rev. Ron Sawade, pastor, Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will immediately follow at South Plymouth Cemetery.
