PAUL R. LEACH SR
MECO, NY – Paul R. Leach, Sr., 92, of Meco, NY passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. He was born on July 23, 1923 in Oxford, NY to the late Floyd and Hazel Rumsey Leach.
Paul proudly served with The Untied States Navy during World War II. He was a coxswain in the US Navy where he was a submarine chaser on the USS-SC# 521 Ship in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He also was a Prison Guard of POW's at Sampson Naval Base near Geneva, NY. He was married to Ruth Wagner Leach, who survives him. Paul worked for 24 years delivering baked goods at the former Hathaway Bakery. He also worked as a chef for 16 years at the former Fulton County Infirmary.
Paul is lovingly survived by his wife Ruth, his children Paul Jr. (Grace), of Johnstown, Mark, (Susan) of Scottsdale, AZ David (Gail) of Lexington, MA; his 3 grandchildren Jaime Anand, Steven Leach and Cristine Leach; his great grandchildren Sebastian, Emma, Sarah and Nico; also several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceasd by his brothers Carl, Edward, Harold and Norman.
The funeral was held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street, Gloversville. Burial with full Military Honors took place at Ferndale Cemetery Johnstown, NY.
