CATHERINE M. (CATHY) JOHNSON
Catherine M. (Cathy) Johnson, 74, of Sherburne passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, January 25, 2016, at her home.
Cathy was born on December 13, 1941 in Earlville the daughter of Gerald and Neva (Puller) Mettler. She attended the Sherburne School and graduated with the class of 1959. She began her working career with the Chenango County Treasurer’s office where she worked with with Al Evans. She then took employment with NBT where she worked for David Dolly in the Installment Loan Dept. Her last employment was with New York Central Mutual Ins. Co.
Cathy was all about family. She enjoyed the holidays and loved to cook for them. If she had an event planned and had the food ready, you’d best show up. In her leisure time she enjoyed doing crafts, especially ceramics where she crafted many owl’s of different shapes and sizes. She also liked knitting and taking care of her plants and flowers. Over the years she bowled on several leagues both in Earlville and Norwich.
In 1961 she married William Johnson who survives.
Besides her husband Bill of Sherburne, Cathy is survived by her sons Michael Johnson and wife Stacey of Hannacroix, NY, Jeff Johnson and wife Janet of Norwich and Kevin Johnson and wife Colleen also of Norwich, her grandchildren Tierney, Bailee, Amanda, Zack, Corey, Ryan, Miranda, Aiden and Bella. Also surviving are her siblings Margaret Hubbell and husband Chuck of Clinton, Janice Bassett of Smyrna, and Eugene Mettler and wife Darlene of Kent, Ohio. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her brother William Mettler.
A Memorial Service for Cathy will be held on Saturday, January 30, at 11 a.m. from the United Church of Christ First Congregational of Norwich. The Rev. Joseph Connolly, Pastor and Teacher will officiate.
Interment will be at a later date in the Willcox Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
