SHERBURNE – Raymond J. Foster, 59, of Route 12B, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 3, 2009 at his home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1949 in Norwich, a son of Raymond E. and Mary Kelly Foster. Ray was a graduate of Norwich High School. He was a decorated war veteran, having received two purple hearts in the Vietnam Conflict while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. On July 16, 1983, Ray married Linda A. Carr in Norwich. He had worked as a truck driver for Agri-Venture in Canastota.  A true sports enthusiast, Ray loved baseball and football. He attended St. Paul’s Church in Norwich and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2782 of Norwich.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Foster of Sherburne; and his son, Andrew L. Foster of Sherburne.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Norwich.
There will be no calling hours.
