Virginia Northrup


MORRIS – Virginia Ann  Northrup, 77, of Morris, passed away on Sept. 15, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica.
She was born on Nov. 9, 1931 in Norwich, The daughter of Emanuel Mirabito and Rose (Lagreca) Mirabito. She married Frank D. Northrup in Wichita Falls, Texas on June 7, 1952. Through the years Virginia had worked for the Norwich Shoe factory, the corset factory in Oxford, Corning of Oneonta and the Oneonta Dress Factory. She retired from Morris Central School as a teachers Aid several years ago. She and Frank moved from Norwich to Morris in 1967. She was a member of the Holy Cross R.C. Church in Morris.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; her daughter Pam Linhart and husband Fred of Harpersfield; two stepdaughters, Connie Pierce and husband John and Bonnie Hallick and husband Jim, all of Afton; two sisters, Phyllis Ray and husband Don of Hamilton, Sandra Ames of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother Emanuel Mirabito Jr. and wife Benedetta of Bath, Pa. She was blessed with her grandchildren, Kelly Linhart and fiancé Grady Ryan, Sarah Linhart and Andrew Hetzler, Emily Derry and husband Shane, Jim Hallick and wife Angelia, Stacey Hallick and wife Crystal, Nikki Page and husband Greg, Laurie Wilson and husband Steve, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross R.C. Church with the Very Reverend John Burns officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at the Hillington Cemetery in Morris.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to ‘The American Heart Assn.” 1 Union St, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691 or the charity of ones choice in Virginia’s memory.
