WILLIAM G. CHAPIN
GEORGETOWN – William G. “Bill” Chapin, 72, of Route 26, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his home.
He was born July 26, 1943 in Cortland, NY, a son of the late Willard L. and Charlotte Hammond Chapin. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School and attended Paul Smiths College. On February 8, 1964, he married Jacqueline. Bill worked at SUNY, Morrisville from 1966 until retiring in 1998. He enjoyed hunting, reading and shooting trap and skeet, winning many awards and trophies for trap shooting. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose favorite times were spent with his family.
Bill was a member of the Methodist Church in Georgetown; the Pompey Rod & Gun Club; and the F&AM Lodge #692 of DeRuyter. He was formerly a member of the Cautious Lodge #726 of Georgetown.
Surviving are his wife of over 51 years, Jackie; a son and daughter-in-law, Bart and Patti Chapin of Georgetown; grandchildren, Jessica Chapin of Georgetown; Jason Williams of Sheds; and Jared Williams of Georgetown; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Hunter Williams of Oneida; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Ronald Eaton of Newark, NY; niece, Shelley (Rick) Devolder of Clifton Springs; nephew, Scott (Maria) Eaton of Hector, NY; three great-nephews; and numerous family in Indiana and Michigan.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, January 8, 2016 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
Interment will be in Sheds Cemetery, Sheds, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 11am to 1pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413; the Georgetown Fire Department, Georgetown, NY 13072; or the Alzheimers Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
