VIRGINIA KNAPP PURPLE
Virginia Knapp Purple, age 90, of Erie and formerly of Norwich, New York, died on Sunday December 20, 2015 at Forestview. She was born in Newark Valley, New York on July 26, 1925, daughter of the late Carl Edward and Dorothy Knapp Purple.
She worked for and was a part of the family business known as Chenango Valley Telephone Company, which later became Verizon. Following her retirement, she became a trust officer for National Bank and Trust Company in Norwich, and later cared for her elderly parents. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling, bird watching, and nature.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth and her husband Dr. Tom R. Miller, II of Erie, PA; two nephews, two nieces and their children.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley, NY.
