Joyce Gohl


NORWICH – Joyce M. Gohl 68, of Norwich, passed away on Saturday evening, Sept. 12, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.
Joyce was born in Sidney Center on Nov. 5, 1940 the daughter of the late Franklyn and Alta (Thomas) Dunshee. Joyce was employed for many years as a Teachers Aide for the Sherburne-Earlville School District. She was a longtime member of the United Methodists Womens Society of Christian Service, the Norwich YMCA, and worked as a volunteer at the Antique Car Museum in Norwich.
Joyce was a lifelong democrat who enjoyed swimming, reading, and what was going on in current affairs, especially politics. Joyce is survived by her son, George D. Gohl of Greenfield, Mass., a sister, Blanch Powers of Unadilla, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and relatives called from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services were be held at 3 p.m. Burial followed in Sidney Center Highland Cemetery.
