Willard (Mack) Campbell, 79, of Black River, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at his home.
Born June 18, 1936, in Newark, NY, Mack was the son of Bernard and Alta Grace (Rensler) Campbell. Following his schooling, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. After being honorably discharged, Mack worked on the Erie Canal System in Lyons, NY and then drove truck for Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill and Consolidated Freightways in Watertown, retiring in 1997.
An avid sports fan, Mack was a loyal supporter of, and an inspirational influence to, his children’s and grandchildren’s athletic endeavors. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially his beloved Chicago Bears. Mack loved animals and going fishing, but his greatest loves were caring for and being with his wife and family.
On April 30, 1960, at St. Michael’s Church in Newark, Mack married Helen Marrocco, who survives. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Linda and Louis Callea, of Norwich, NY and Jeffrey and Wendy Campbell, of Parma, OH; two grandchildren, Alyssa and Alexander Campbell, of Parma; two brothers, Frederick Campbell and his wife, Marlene, of Clarks Summit, PA and Bruce Campbell, of Lyons, NY. Several beloved nieces and nephews also survive.
A prayer service for Mack will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at St. Paul’s Church in Norwich, NY. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
