DOUGLAS P. YOUNGS
Douglas P. Youngs, 70, of Preston passed away Monday morning, November 16, 2015 at his home.
Doug was born on December 16, 1944 in Tyner the son of Irving D. and Marietta (Mead) Youngs. He grew up in the Tyner and Oxford area and attended Oxford School . Doug spent most of his adult life in Preston where he had made his home for many years. Over the years he has worked for the Dunckel Egg Farm, as manager of I.L. Richer Feed Company and most recently as an Auto –Tech. for Wal-Mart in Norwich. Doug also was a member of the Preston Fire Department for many years.
Doug’s life was his family especially his grandkids with whom he enjoyed many special times. He enjoyed woodworking and over the years has refinished many antiques. Most recently he had spent time making very intricate bird houses and was known to be quite artistic. He also enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and trips to the Adirondacks.
On March 4, 1993, Doug married Donna L. Dungey who survives. Besides his wife Donna of Preston, he is also survived by his father Irving D. (Bruce) Youngs of Oxford, his son Bruce H. Youngs and wife Lori of Lakeland, FL, his sisters Ella Youngs Peryea and Janice Youngs Smith and husband James all of Oxford. Also surviving are 35 grand and great grandchildren, several step-children, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doug was predeceased by his mother Marietta and daughter Carlene R. Youngs.
At Doug’s request there will be no formal services or calling hours.
