John Joseph Shakeshaft


JOHN JOSEPH SHAKESHAFT
CHURCHVILLE, NY – On October 29, 2015 John left us to be with his Lord and Savior. John had put up a good fight while waiting for a transplant donor.
John was born at Highland Hospital, Rochester, NY on April 24, 1966 the son of Charles H. and Noël (Briand) Shakeshaft. John moved to Norwich, NY in 1975 and attended Norwich City Schools through 9th grade. He returned to Churchville and graduated from Churchville-Chili High School in 1984. John was a diver in the swim team of both high school settings. He attended Alfred State College, graduating in 1987 with a degree in Computers. John was smitten by computers and his career was spent with numerous enterprises managing their computer systems. He was honored to be Microsoft Certified. At the time of his death, he was employed by Bosch Security Systems, a job he really liked.
John was an avid skier and snowboarder. He was also known to spend time in the winter on his snowmobile and in the summer, a jet ski. Motorcycles and dirt bikes were also a favorite. In October 1992, John married Kristen (Hanson) and they had two children, Taylor (14) and Alex (12). In addition to his wife and children, John is also survived by his mother Noël Briand, Norwich, NY, his brother Christopher (Erin) Griffith and nephews CJ and Wesley of Norwell, MA, his uncle Joseph A. (Kathy) Briand of Newton, NJ, mother-in-law Carol Hanson, Rochester, NY, sister in law Karrie (Jamie) Schoemaker, Palmyra, NY and his stepmother Carol Shakeshaft, NH. John was predeceased by his father Charles H. Shakeshaft, Churchville, NY, his paternal grandparents John and Mary Shakeshaft, Churchville, NY, a half-brother Nicholas Shakeshaft, Churchville, NY and maternal grandparents Joseph and Louise Briand, Mesa, AZ. John and his family worshipped and served at The Father’s House in Rochester and were baptized there in 2011.
Calling hours were held on November 1 at New Comer Funeral Home, Rochester followed by a memorial service conducted by Chick Waller, a dear friend of the family. The family asked that any donations be made to Donate Life http://donatelife.net/organ-donation/ and that people consider registering as an organ donor if they are not already.
