Charline B. Gibbs


NORTH NORWICH: Charline B. Gibbs, 74, of Route 12, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at her home.
She was born November 2, 1941 in New Berlin, NY, a daughter of Ervin and Queenie Decker Borst and was a graduate of New Berlin High School. On October 15, 1960, Charline married Robert M. Gibbs in Sherburne. He predeceased her on September 11, 2015. Charline worked in the local banking industry at the Savings & Loan in Norwich, and then at various branches of NBT, where she was a teller and a trainer, until retiring from the Sherburne branch. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed gardening and lawn care. She spent many summer hours mowing and “manicuring” the lawn. Charline was a fan of Elvis, enjoyed reading and was fond of animals. Her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids brought her the most joy and always put a smile on her face.
Charline was a member of the North Norwich United Methodist Church and the North Norwich Garden Club.
Surviving are her children, Bobbie and Thomas Grover of Sherburne; Mitch and Dawn Gibbs of North Norwich; Jim and Renee Gibbs of Havertown, PA; grandchildren, Heather and Gary Miller of Sherburne; Linsey Grover and Mike Barone of North Norwich; Danielle Gibbs of Sherburne; Brett Tonkin of Carbondale, PA; Michael Grover and Kirsten Page of Sherburne; Todd Gibbs of North Norwich; and Joe Gibbs of Havertown, PA; great-grandchildren, Chesnee, Layne, Griffin and Hadlee; a brother Thomas Borst of New Berlin; sister-in-law, Norma Borst of TN; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Borst.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from Noon until 2pm, followed by graveside services at 2:45 p.m. in the North Norwich Cemetery.
