ERNEST R. WEISBERG
Ernest Robert Weisberg, 89 yrs. old of Greene, NY, formerly of New Berlin, passed away on November 2, 2015 at Binghamton General Hospital.
Ernest was born on April 29, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Ernest George & Jennie Christina (Anderson) Weisberg. His childhood was spent in various areas including Hempstead NY where he graduated from Hempstead High School. He then attended one year of college and took ICS courses at home in radio building and repair as well as drafting. He served in the US Navy as a cook during WWII and later worked as a cook at the Tunnicliff Restaurant in Cooperstown. He also had a small dairy farm.
On August 23, 1952 he married Pauline M. Forquignon (Weisberg) who predeceased him on December 28, 1999.
Ernest was also predeceased by his sons, Garry C. Weisberg on August 14, 1990 and Forrest R. Weisberg on December 4, 2000.
He is survived by his daughter Jocelyn of Greene, NY, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Ernest is also survived by Thomas Cashman, not a blood relative but a 20 yr. significant other of Jocelyn. They were as close as any blood relative could be.
Ernest enjoyed his work and had a forever love of cars, Vera Ellen movies, old westerns and listening to Marilyn Monroe. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, NY with the Very Reverend Charles Taylor of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church officiating.
The interment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin, NY.
