Louis James Oros, 80, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Cortland, NY.
Born in Cincinnatus, NY, on October 24, 1935, Louie was the son of the late Julius and Rosa Torkos Oros. He was a 1956 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and worked on the family farm until his retirement in 2009. Often times, for many years, he would spend his time trucking his farmer friend’s animals to the auction barns. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a former member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elaine Wilcox Oros; a brother, John Oros of Vestal; sisters, Margaret (Eugene) LeFevre of Plattsburgh and Helen (William) Bowers of Webster; and a sister-in-law, Ruthella Oros of Cortland. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Julius Oros, Jr. and Joseph Oros; and a sister, Rose Burrows.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Pitcher Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Louie may be directed to the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, c/o Elaine Oros, 5771 McFarlane Road, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
