Robert L. White


MT. UPTON – Robert Lewis White, 77 of Mt. Upton passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at his home. 
Bob was born on July 1, 1932, one of eleven children of the late Alfred and Harriet (Farwell) White in Sharon, Conn. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. Bob worked as a machine operator for Amphenol Corp., retiring on Aug. 1, 1994 after 35years of employment.
Bob was dedicated to the things he was passionate about.  He was a member of the Borden Hose Co. Fire Department in Mt. Upton for over 40 years, holding a number of offices through the course of the years.  Bob was also an avid bowler, bowling on the Sunday Couples League and the Tuesday City League at 20th Century Lanes for over 40 years.  
Bob is survived by three daughters from his first marriage:             Dawn White of Endicott and her daughter, Delicia, Danita and David Washburn of Troy, Ala. and Darcy White of Conway, S.C. and her daughter, Andrea; as well as his ex-wife and mother of his girls, Pat Brownell; his “step” daughter, Bonnie and Gary Schoonover of Sidney and granddaughter, Julia; brother, Walter White of Torrington, Conn.; sister, Phylis Samuels of Sheffield, Mass.
On Dec. 28, 1969, Bob married Barbara Button in Mt. Upton. She predeceased him on Jan. 29, 1995 after 25 years of marriage.  He is also predeceased by four brothers: Alfred, Donald, Arnold and Wally, as well as four sisters:  Jean, Evelyn, Beverly and Joyce. 
In 1999, Bob remarried Janet Hartwell of Mt. Upton, who survives.
Friends are invited to call from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. 
A prayer service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Gerald Bovee, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Upton, officiating. 
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be directed to Borden Hose Company, Mt. Upton Fire Department, Mt. Upton, NY 13809.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com.
