MARY I. PALMER
Mary I. Palmer, 88, formerly of Norwich and most recently a resident of Chase House of New Berlin, passed away early Sunday morning, August 30, 2015, at the Chase House.
Mary was born on August 10, 1927 in Walton, NY the daughter of Frank and Vera D. (Cathcart) Drake. She grew up in Otsego County and attended school in Oneonta. Mary worked for many years in what was then the Stamford Hospital as an operating room technician. She also, along with her husband, operated a farm in North Harpursfield. Mary made her home in Norwich for many years before moving to Preston Manor and eventually the Chase House.
On January 14, 1945 in Oneonta she married Clarence Palmer who passed away February 27, 2001.
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard & Susan Palmer of Norwich, her grandchildren; Daniel Palmer, Isacc Palmer, Esther Eddy and Jesse Palmer. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Clarence, Mary was predeceased by her son Niles Palmer and her siblings Dorothy, Rosie, Florence, Ella, Ed, Ivan, Leslie and Charles.
A funeral service for Mary will be held on Wednesday, September 2, at 11 a.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Josh Rathmell, Pastor of the Faith Bible Church of Oxford will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
