MARY GOODSPEED ARCHIE
NORWICH – Mrs. Mary Goodspeed Archie, age 90, of Norwich, NY, died peacefully on August 19 at Chenango Memorial Hospital (RHCF).
Mrs. Archie was a graduate of White Plains High School in White Plains, NY, and The Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. She worked for two years for the US government as a secretary in Germany after WWII, which was the adventure of her life and where she was able to travel extensively to many places in Europe. She married Joseph J. Archie on September 30, 1950, in White Plains, NY. She and her husband traveled often, and she helped him in his publishing and orchid businesses. They enjoyed golfing together and spent many winters in Florida.
Mrs. Archie was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Katonah, NY. She and her husband moved to Norwich in their later years to be near their daughter, Pamela. Mrs. Archie is survived by her husband and her children, twin daughters, Patricia (Tom) Gainey of Rock Hill, SC; Barbara Boyle of Norwich, NY; daughter Pamela (Dr. Mark Vogel) of Norwich, NY; and son, Mark J. Archie (Paula) of Greenwich, CT; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will honor Mrs. Archie’s memory with private services to be held at a later date.
Family members are eternally grateful for the special, sensitive care afforded to her during her three years at the RHCF.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Residential Health Care Facility at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
