EDWARD O. DuVALL
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Edward O. DuVall, 73, of South New Berlin, passed away early Saturday morning, August 22, 2015, at home with family at his side. Ed was born on November 8, 1941 in Suffern, NY the son of Francis and Esther (Munhall) DuVall. He grew up in the Suffern area where he attended the local schools. Ed moved upstate in 1973 and in the mid 1980’s moved to South New Berlin where he continued to make his home. He had been employed by the NYS Corrections Dept. for 22 years having worked in Auburn, Fishkill, Coxsackie and lastly Camp Georgetown. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
Ed’s greatest accomplishment and one he was very proud of was the fact he was a recovering alcoholic for over 30 years. During this time he has helped many others with the problem and was part of the Rutgers team for alcoholics. He was also a member of the Employee Assittance Program, EAP.
In his spare time Ed enjoyed baking and was an excellent decorator of his creations. Over the years he has made countless cakes which everyone enjoyed. Ed also liked to tell stories and loved being a prankster playing jokes on many of his family members and friends. He also, along with his father, operated a tree trimming business. He was an excellent climber and was often called a “tree monkey”. Hunting and fishing were also on his “to do “ much of the time.
On June 5, 1982 in the Whitestore Church he married Jean Travers who survives. Besides his wife Jean, Ed is survived by his children Edward H. DuVall and wife Amber Henriksen of Unadilla, David H. DuVall of South New Berlin, Audra J. DuVall and her partner Alicia Ross of South New Berlin, his sister MaryAnn Dodge of Smyrna and his brother James DuVall and wife Joan of New Berlin. Also surviving are his grandchildren Garrick and Edward Henrikson-DuVall along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service for Ed will be held on Friday, August 28, at 1 p.m. from the Whitestore Church. The Rev. Jeff McLallen of the South Edmeston Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the WHitestore Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
