Phyllis R. Rotundo


NORWICH – Phyllis R. Rotundo, 89, of Brown Avenue, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, August 18, 2015.
Born June 20, 1926, in Johnson City, NY, Phyllis was the daughter of Jesse and Ruth (Williams) Loveland. She was a 1944 graduate of Windsor High School. After high school, Phyllis worked in various capacities at Endicott-Johnson shoe factory, Norwich Shoe Company, Norwich Pharmacal, NBT Bank and Victory Markets. She retired after working as a keypunch operator at Victory Markets.
Phyllis very much enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. She also treasured her feline companion, Penny, who she often mentioned as being her “guardian angel.”
On April 22, 1955, at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Norwich, Phyllis married her husband, and love of her life, Joseph A. Rotundo. Joseph passed away on July 9, 1997. Phyllis is survived by her children Brent Rotundo and his wife, Kathleen, of Maryland, NY, Frances Nucero and her husband, Sam, of Norwich, Patricia Rotundo, of Norwich, who was Phyllis’ primary caregiver, Elizabeth Rotundo and her spouse, Lori, of Albany, and Julie Winner, of Oxford. She is also survived by grandchildren Vincent Nucero and his wife, Sarah, and Natalie Nucero, Christopher and Ronald Rotundo, Mary Robuck, Tara Winner-Swete, Rhonda Dodzweit, and Jeffrey Winner. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Phyllis was predeceased by sisters Naomi Roberts and Alice Osborne, brother Alfred O’Leary, and grandson Thomas Winner.
Funeral services for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015, at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
