CARL T. CHAWGO
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Carl T. Chawgo, 74, of South New Berlin, passed away Tuesday evening, August 4, 2015, in the Wilson Hospital of Johnson City.
Carl was born on September 7, 1940 in Watertown, NY the son of George and Beatrice (Battams) Chawgo. He grew up in Sackets Harbor where he attended the local schools. Carl moved with his family to the Norwich area in the mid 1960’s while working for the Xerox Corporation. He also had worked for the Mirabito Fuel Group, Chenango County Code Enforcement Office and last for the Village of Sidney as a Codes Enforcement Officer. In addition to his work, Carl was also a supervisor for the Chenango County Bureau of Fire as the lead arson investigator.
He was also a member of the South New Berlin Fire Dept. and an AVID hunter.
Carl was predeceased by his wife Karen Church Chawgo on August 12, 2014.
Carl is survived by his sons; Tracy Chawgo and fiancée Melinda of Norwich, Troy Chawgo and wife Pam of Inman, SC, Timothy Chawgo and wife Lynn of Guilford and his brothers George Chawgo and wife Betty of Fulton, Timothy Chawgo and wife Virginia also of Fulton and Kenneth Chawgo and companion Faye of Pulaski. Also surviving are his grandchildren Hailey Whiteside and husband Joseph, Ryan and Taylor Chawgo, Alyssa and Bradley Chawgo, Chandler Wehrli, Ryley Chawgo, Alex Wehrli , Kolby and Tyler Chawgo, Craig Cerverizxo and wife Jill, Heather Wood and husband Dan and his great grandchildren Sophia Whiteside, Hannah Cerverizxo, Noah and Bentely Wood and Daniel Whiteside. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Carl’s life will be held at a later date and place to be announced. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin. There will be no calling hours.
