Barbara Elliott

NEW BERLIN – Barbara Elliott of New Berlin died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Marvin and Millie Williams, she was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Columbus. A longtime resident of Sidney, she was the widow of Richard Elliott, who died in 2002.
Barb, as she was known to so many, or Grandma, as she was known to her loving family, was the light of our lives. Her warmth, friendship, compassion, faith, optimism and unending love were an inspiration to all and served to bind her close to our hearts. We know her love for us continues, as we will continue loving others in the tradition she so wonderfully taught us. We will miss her deeply, but we will not ever forget her.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Elliott of Cazenovia; a daughter, Barbara Hust of Kenoza Lake; four grandchildren, Amy (Elliott) Perrone and her husband Joe of Fabius, Andrew Elliott and his wife Janet of Manlius, Dan Hust and his partner William Hulse of Damascus, Pa., and Rebekah (Hust) Failla and her husband Louis of Alfred; seven great-grandchildren, Peighton, Cassandra, MacKenzie, Dominic, Wade, Mitchell, and Elizabeth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on Route 8 in New Berlin. Private burial will be made in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the Dakin Funeral Home LP of New Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Elliott’s memory may be made to Hope House Orphanage, care of Hope Ministries Christian Counseling Center, POB 75, Kenoza Lake, NY 12750.
