THOMAS C. TANSEY
OXFORD – Thomas C. Tansey, 89 of Oxford passed away on July 29, 2015 at the NYS Veterans’ Home, Oxford. He was born on December 3, 1925 in Newark Valley, NY a son of the late Paul M. and Mary Louise (Stone) Tansey. On June 23, 1945 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Oxford he married Agnes Miller, who passed away on November 18, 1991.
He is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Sharyn Gorski of Rome, NY, JoAnn Cosen of Oxford, Carolyn and Stephen Sincox of Kennedy, NY, Diane and Thomas Clark of The Villages, FL, and Terri and Damon Thomas of Phenix City, AL; his daughter in law, Becky Tansey of Tupelo, MS; his brother, James W. Hemstrought, Jr. and wife Kathy; his sister Louzetta Page and husband Donald; and his sister in law, Louise Tansey. Sixteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas G. Tansey, his brothers, Robert Tansey and Paul Richard Tansey and 2 grandchildren.
Tom was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Fort Hill Post #376 American Legion. He was a member of the Lake Ludlow Club. He retired as supervisor of transportation at Oxford Academy and Central School after 35 years of service. He also retired from NBT Bank as a courier after 25 years. He enjoyed many summers at Sylvan Beach and Boynton Beach, FL playing golf.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with Lisa Busby officiating. Burial will military honors will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.
